There was a thread here about dynamic metatags using a CLASS file from phpclasses.org. Dynamic cloud tags wer also discussed in that same thread.

With regard to meta tags, I too have heard that Google and some other search engines are ignoring meta keywords. Even those these statements come from self proclaimed SEO experts, I am inclined to think that they have misinterpreted data from their there own SEO experiments and that a more accurate term should be "meta keywords have lower relevance than before when performing the pagerank algorythm".
I am no SEO expert but I am going to run with my own theory that these SEO experts have highly optimised pages and therefore, the content of their meta keywords has little bearing on their pagerank when taking everything else into consideration - especially the actual content of the page.

My own experiments seem to support my theory that in a less than ideally optimised site, meta keywords tag still has an influential effect.

But how did you know that your meta keywords were responsible for it? I mean it could as easily be anchor texts from other sites linking to yours.

I've seen 3 different oppinions and views now;
1- They should be used to accompany the content of the page (i.e. resemble the keywords used the most on a page)
2- They should be used to provide synonyms or variations of the keywords used in your content
3- They should be used as a fallback for misspellings

I do believe that the 1st one makes the most sense but who am I Very Happy

Two html pages with identical content and meta data with the exception of the meta keywords only seen by search engines (no visible link on any other page).
The one with keywords which did not match the content didn't rank at all, the other got a pr of 1
