Very well put Guardian and I completely agree with you. I know that there are services one can subscribe to for sending out marketing emails. These would be far better for a very large mail send. I just have never had a need to investigate them in detail.

Definitely good considerations that you raise.

It is pretty expensive to use newsletter services. I looked at MailChimp and they take for 20000 newsletter 150 USD per month. For 200 newsletter a week and 1300 newsletters once per year that I have a PHP-Nuke solution is simplest and best.

HNL Newsletter should be able to cope with that. Your particular problem is down to your hosting provider.
I have used HNL Newsletter to send 500 emails with no problems (but I'm using a dedicated server).
