XHTML/W3C Compliance for Sommaire 2.1.1

Well, since RavenNuke76 2.10.00 is close to release and it has made large leaps forward in terms of XHTML and W3C compliance, AND I run RavenNuke76 here on this site, I have decided that in order to take advantage of all that hard work from the Team, I am needing to make Sommaire 2.1.1 (used here for the Site Menu) compliant among other blocks/modules.

I will begin this work soon and will release this to the public since Sommaire is no longer supported by its author.

Well, the interesting thing is that the 3.0b1 version IS HTML 4.01 Transitional in terms of the block. At least for the features that I use here on this site. So, I decided to run with it and fix any bugs as they are found.

Looking forward to this as it is one of the reasons I have not used it to date.
Well I use it on an old site but CA needs something more compliant ;)

Guardian, I'd give 3.0 beta a try. You can always go back to the old modules block. If you are interested, I can forward to you my testing excel spreadsheet which highlights the bugs that I found. I finally decided there was nothing there that would preclude me from using on this production site.

Well, it was good enough for me... if you run into any issues, don't hesitate to post / PM / email. Not sure I'll have a fix, because the code is quite complex, but I may have a work-around.

Well, as we now know, 3.0b is NOT XHTML compliant even though it was found by me to be HTML compliant... Bummer. I'll start with 3.0b as the base then... Guardian, sounds like you may already have done a lot of work on this from an XHTML standpoint, do you mind sharing that with me?
